About Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda! Over the last few years I’ve been learning the ropes of freelance writing and traditional publishing as I work to build a career as a children’s author. It’s been a leap of faith and a lot of hard work, but I’ve met wonderful people along the way and continue to be encouraged and supported by my husband and three boys — who don’t really love to read, but have a mom who does.
During that time I have become an award-winning author, the Editing Manager of Kingdom Edge Magazine, a guest contributor for A Wife Like Me, the PAL Coordinator for the Kansas/Missouri chapter of SCBWI, and an active member of the Heartland Writers Guild. I also freelance for Flourish, TBY, B Magazine, Mind & Body and the Southeast Missourian, all local publications in the town I live and love.
Mentoring and teaching other writers has become my latest passion, and I’m always interested in chatting with someone who is in the process of following their dreams. As an Enneagram 4, I know what it’s like to want something big and be too afraid to go for it. I also know how it feels to get over that hump, find your creative edge and feel empowered to become who you already knew you were.
When I am not reading or writing, you can find me on the mat, practicing yoga and trying not to spill my coffee. My debut board book, Yoga Baby, released in June 2020 and celebrates the bond between mother and child, with a simple yogi flow and practical tips for parents. My first Chicken Soup for the Soul story released January 2021 in the book, Miracles & Divine Intervention. It’s a real-life story of hope and inspiration.
Once a ‘city’ girl, I now enjoy the slower pace of small town life, where the people are good and the traffic is light. On any given day, you’re likely to find me running carpool, watching the latest on Netflix, or walking my two rowdy rescue pups, who recently snuck into my home and stole my heart.
